John Greiner is a graduate of Wausau West High School. He was a member of the United States Air Force Band from 1983-’87. After military service, John was awarded a scholarship to the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. where he graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Woodwind Performance. John stayed in the Boston area for the next 13 years, maintaining a busy free-lance performance and teaching schedule. He has traveled throughout the United States and overseas, performing with many various musical organizations, some of which include The Newport Jazz Orchestra, The Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra under the direction of Bill Tole and The Artie Shaw Orchestra under the direction of Dick Johnson. He has also performed in concert with Dizzy Gillespie, Stan Getz, Gary Burton, Aretha Franklin, The Temptations, The Four Tops, The Platters, The Fifth Dimension, Frankie Vallee and many more.
Mr. Greiner now leads his own jazz trio, quartet and Big Band, “SWINGSHIFT“. He also free-lances with other bands throughout the state. John has been on the faculty of the Conservatory since 2004.
