Ted was the Director of Bands at D.C. Everest High School from 1989-2016. He began his adventures teaching grades five through twelve and at the collegiate level in 1980. He studied trombone at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis with Mr. Steven Zellmer, Principal Trombonist of the Minnesota Orchestra.
Ted received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1980 and was hired as the Director of Bands in Preston, Minnesota. In 1987 Ted returned to the University of Minnesota as a student and Graduate Assistant Director with the University Bands. He expanded his jazz experience under Dr. Reginald Buckner. Receiving his Master of Arts degree in 1990, he graduated with honors, being inducted into the national Phi Beta Lambda honor’s fraternity.
Once he moved to Central Wisconsin, Ted conducted the Wausau Symphonic Band for twenty two years, 1990-2012. He is a frequent performer with many local jazz groups including the Sid Kyler Dixieland Band and Swing City Big Band. He is a member of the Odyssey Brass Quintet, the worship band at Good News Church in Mosinee, and now plays trombone with the Wausau Symphonic Band and Jazz Ensemble. He has composed and performed works for concert and marching band, jazz ensemble and combo’s, brass quintet, and worship ensembles. Ted joined the Conservatory faculty in 2012.
Ted lives in Rothschild with his wife Jennifer.

Ted received the “Citation of Excellence” from the National Band Association in 1993, was awarded the “Herb Kohl Achievement Award” in 1996 and was voted “D.C. Everest High School Teacher of the Year” in 1997.
