Conservatory student Leo Guo headed to Carnegie Hall

Leo Guo to perform at Carnegie Hall

The Wausau Conservatory of music is pleased and proud to announce that Leo Guo, a seventh- grade piano student of the Dr. Lily Chia Brissman studio, will be performing at Carnegie Hall, New York City, NY on February 3, 2018. Leo is a finalist in the 2017-18 Forte International Music Competition, an annual event open to instrumentalists and vocalists of all nationalities ages 4-35.

To reach this final round of competition, Leo performed in the Preliminary Round on December 9, 2017, where he was required to play one original five-minute composition from memory. Upon moving forward, he again competed in the Semi-Final Round on December 10. In this round, he was required to play a piece selected from a list of composers, also five-minute and from memory. For his performance in the Final Round, Leo will be performing the first movement of Sonata in C Major, K. 279, by Mozart.

Leo Guo was also a winner of the junior division of the Forte International President’s Cup Competition in January 2017 and is a recipient of the 2017-18 First Place Merit Scholarship Middle Division at the Wausau Conservatory of Music.
